We first met Valerie and Tyler at our privately-owned Nims Lake for their engagement shoot in June 2019. The two of them were married four months later on October 12 in the Trinity Baptist Church in Great Falls, Chester County, South Carolina under brilliant “Carolina Blue” skies. Valerie wore a traditional white bridal gown and her bridesmaids were dressed in blue dresses. The guys wore casual red shirts with tan pants. The ceremony was similar to all the weddings we’ve covered with mothers gathering around the bride, the children all dressed up and running back and forth, and the guys just chilling with guests as they arrived for the wedding.

The formal pageantry began with the groomsmen escorting members of the family to their seats and then taking their places with the bridesmaids at the front of the church. Finally came the entrance of the ring bearer and flower girl (always a treat and this was no exception!). Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for: the entrance of the bride with her father. We always try and capture the groom’s reaction when he first see’s her approaching the altar. The ceremony featured the tears, and smiles, solemn moments, and great happiness of the couple at the end of the ceremony. We love capturing the joy and relief immediately after the service!

Then came the formal family portraits taken in the barn owned by a family friend. We were glad we had a large shady place for those portraits because it was truly bright and awefully hot outdoors. The reception came a few hours later in a beautifully decorated hall. Southern food is always a taste treat to anyone, and this was no exception. The final highlight of the evening was the cake cutting which ended with cake smashed into the newlyweds faces. A terrific end to a great wedding. We wish them both a loving life together.
